AMBER is the SFI Centre for Advanced Materials and BioEngineering Research. The Centre brings a multidisciplinary partnership between leading academics in Advanced Materials Science, BioEngineering and Industry. Working collaboratively we develop new materials and devices for the ICT, medical devices, energy and sustainable industrial technology sectors.

DEPARK, Dokuz Eylul University Science and Technology Park, is the management company that maintains and develops the Technology Development Zone (TDZ) of the DEU in Izmir. DEPARK hosts more than 130 R&D companies in the sectors including but not limited to ICT, electronics, software, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, climate change and environment, energy and chemistry.

DJUG has 14 faculties and prepares students for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral studies in various fields (technical, humanistic, economic, health, artistic). Within DJUG doctoral studies are conducted in 4 Doctoral Schools, 19 doctoral fields, under coordination of 129 PhD supervisors. FARPLAS, a full system solution partner for automobile industry, operates mainly in research, developing and manufacturing of automobile polymer systems and provides innovative solutions, and implements state-of-the-art technologies to make mobility safer, reliable, affordable, and efficient. Within the ECO-SPHERE, FARPLAS will be involved as a secondment institution on the topics covering sustainability, circular economy, lightweight, industry 4.0, green deal transition and urban mobility in the automobile industry domain. FARPLAS has experience in H2020 and Horizon Europe projects by being a coordinator in one and beneficiary in seven projects mostly on green and digital transformation in the automobile industry.

Established in 1959, Ford Otosan is Ford Europe’s largest commercial vehicle production center with a production capacity of 721,700 vehicles, 436,500 engines, and 140,000 powertrains in 2022. With 1688 R&D employees, Ford Otosan has the largest R&D organization in the Turkish industry and is exporting engineering. It serves as the global engineering center for Ford’s heavy commercial vehicles, related diesel engines, and engine systems, as well as the support center for Ford’s light commercial vehicle design and engineering. R&D department of the company possesses all the capabilities and infrastructure required to design, develop, and test a whole vehicle, including particularly its engine, from scratch to the complete commercial product. Ford Otosan has so far been involved in 20 H2020 and 14 Horizon Europe projects with more than 600 partners all over Europe.

HOPU is an innovation leader in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and Smart Cities. Company’s main market is environmental monitoring solutions; covering digital services with dashboard and decision support tools based on AI algorithms compatible with reference platforms as FIWARE / NGSI, CEF Context Broker, Sentilo, oneM2M / OMA LwM2M and LoRa Cayenne.

With respect to research and teaching, the Institute of Chemistry of Polymeric Materials is active in the fields of Macromolecular chemistry, Physical chemistry of polymeric materials, Molecular characterization of polymers. Research topics mainly include Smart and Light-Reactive Polymers, Functional Surfaces, Sustainable Materials.

Established in 1994 as an affiliation to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, ISTAC provides services in the fields of waste and environmental management. Company’s main areas of operation includes waste management (Municipal solid waste transportation and management, Construction and operation of transfer stations and landfill sites, Medical waste management, Industrial waste management, Excavation, construction, and demolition waste management, The management of ship-generated waste), city cleaning and recyclying (Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) operation including compost production from organic waste, Production of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), Recycling of packaging waste, Energy Generations such as LFG-Landfill Gas To Energy Solutions, MSW Incineration, Biomethanization, Landfill leachate management).

Istanbul Teknik is a building material production, sales, engineering solution and applications company founded in 1998. It is Turkey’s first and largest geogrid manufacturer and is a member of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS). ITG is a National Technology Centre officially recognised since 2012 by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation of Spain. ITG’s main area of activity includes Artificial Intelligence and associated technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, artificial vision or natural language processing Within the ECO-SPHERE project ITG will host researchers to carry out some of their research about AI processes in the domain of circular economy focused data. 

KalyonPV is an industrial leader in solar energy technologies in Turkiye with its experience in producing different types of solar cells. With more than 100 R&D personnel, KalyonPV mainly focuses on R&D in the areas of prototype studies for semi-conductor ingot and wafer production, which constitutes the basis of chip technology, TOPCon panel technology and Gallium doped panels, Perovskite and multilayer cell technologies, Development of wafer slicing techniques, N-Type monocrystalline ingot, wafer production, Flexible Panel studies for applicability on curved floors and ESS studies. Within ECO-SPHERE KalyonPV will host researchers mainly in research topics involving ingot, wafer, cell and module production. KalyonPV has participated in 3 Horizon Europe projects so far, being a coordinator in one of them, mainly on clean energy technologies.

KIPAS, a textile company located in Kahramanmaras, is a part of KIPAS holding founded in 1984. KIPAS Holding operates in six sectors: textile, cement, paper, energy, education and logistics. KIPAS is engaged in textile production; in addition to Weaving, Open-End and Ring yarn production there are Fabric Dyeing-Finishing and Denim fabric production processes are carried out. Kipas Tekstil, which has recently been on the world agenda with its Technical Textile and R&D studies, also made a name for itself with its washable, multi-use, contamination-reducing mask production during the pandemic period. KIPAS has been involved in a H2020 project on circular supply chain of new cotton textile, which has ended in September 2023.

HIVA – Research Institute for Work and Society is a multidisciplinary research institution at KU Leuven. HIVA carries out scientific policy-oriented research. HIVA’s research activities are organized into ten research themes: Civil society and social dialogue, Climate and sustainable development, Education and lifelong learning, Global development, Housing, Labour market, Migration and integration, Poverty and social inclusion, Welfare state and Work and organisation.

ORTECH provides solutions to marine industry in Ship Management (Chemical tanker, Bulk Carrier and Container ships), Ship Maintenance and Repair Management (Dry Docking-Onboard repairing 7/24), Ship pre-surveying, IHM Maintenance, Veems Vessel Effective Efficiency Management system, Ballast water treatment system installation. Mainly specialized on ship technical management, electronical solutions, and automation control systems, ORTECH offers to host post-doctoral researchers in the areas of sustainable maritime research.

RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute, which operates as an innovation partner for entire society to help develop technologies, products, services and processes contributing to a sustainable world and competitive industry. RISE offers services in four categories: Transition Management (future analysis, strategic roadmaps and policy development), Applied Research and Development (research management, management and coordination of research programs, testbeds and demonstration environments, industrial processes and upscaling, problem solving and expert support, and innovation management), Testing, Inspection and Certification (testing and calibration, product, personal, and management systems certification), and Lifelong Learning (skills transitions, upskilling, reskilling, and newskilling). Within ECO-SPHERE, RISE aims to host post-doctoral researchers in the field of digitalization in RICE ICE Data Centre.

SAMPA, established in 1994, manufactures around 25000 products for heavy-duty commercial vehicles over 24 different groups including motor, suspension, cabin, electrical systems. Company’s R&D center, entitled CAMP, is specialized in strategic product groups, while Materials design and development activities and is recognized as the most comprehensive R&D center in global aftermarket. Within ECO-SPHERE, SAMPA will host researchers with particular interest in sustainability topics in heavy-duty commercial vehicle industry.

Simplexion Informatics Ltd., founded in 2006, mainly operates in the areas of developing industrial control engineering tools and software with RFID based product monitoring system, providing consultancy services in the field of information security, and offering expertise and solutions concerning payment and clearing services and transaction processing in banking systems. Within ECO-SPHERE Simplexion aims to host post-doctoral researchers in the areas of in-process monitoring, production data collection, and building-up unique control systems.

Sirena Marine, a leading company in yacht industry in Turkiye, mainly operates in the areas of design, technology, and craftmanship in marine industry. Founded in 1996, Sirena is the one of the main manufacturers of Azuree and Euphoria brands. Within ECO-SPHERE, Sirena is eager to host post-doctoral researchers in the fields of marine engineering and naval architecture, interior design processes, finite element analyses, boatyard planning, and circular economy practices in the Yacht Industry.

STRATAGEM Energy Ltd is an independent Research and Innovation company providing insightful, timely and focused technical services and research on Engineering solutions, grouped with Business services. Being a largest industrial complex in Europe, Vestel installations are located in Manisa (a neighbouring city of Izmir) and cover a total area of 1.3 million square meters.  Within the ECO-SPHERE project VESTEL will host secondment activities related with circular economy research in consumer electronics and household appliances. VESTEL has been involved in 4 different H2020 projects with more than 100 partners all over Europe.

YTGB (Yildiz Teknopark) is the management company of the Technology Development Zone (TDZ) of the YTU in Istanbul. YTGB hosts more than 300 R&D companies mostly in the ICT related sectors though lately more prioritization has been given to companies working in sustainable development, green and renewable energy technologies.
